Don’t live in the Workplace (Hygiene)
Cleaning wasn’t part of the job description so why should you have to clean up after yourself? The company hires people for that.
One empty plastic bottle may look fine on your desk. When it starts to pile up, even you will be less likely to want to work at your own desk.
Some people choose not to allow clutter to pile up on their desk by using things like ‘desk bins’. Others just let their rubbish fall to the floor and become someone else’s problem or eyesore.
Your company may push promotional material to try and encourage people to keep their workspace clean and tidy, but the only way that works is if the employee is willing to make changes and do the correct thing even if it doesn’t feel like the right thing.
Don’t want to trip over some rubbish that you dropped a few weeks ago? Bin it once you’ve made use of its contents.
Your desk isn’t your bedroom, don’t live at it.
